Paramount has confirmed that the worlds of Transformers and G.I. Joe will finally collide in an upcoming crossover film. This announcement was made at CinemaCon, where the studio also shared a glimpse into its future slate of projects, as per Screen Rant.

For years, Transformers and G.I. Joe have thrilled audiences with their action-packed adventures and complex characters, each maintaining robust, separate entities within the cinematic landscape. The speculation about a crossover reached a peak at the conclusion of 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. In a scene that sparked widespread fan speculation, Michael Kelly’s character, an agent linked to G.I. Joe, introduced the Joes to Anthony Ramos’ character, Noah, hinting at a potential collaboration.

Paramount also provided a rough timeline for its arrival during the crossover confirmation at CinemaCon, targeting a release window in either 2025 or 2026. This positions the crossover as a highlight in a packed roster of upcoming films for Paramount. These movies include The Naked Gun 4, a new Star Trek origin story, and Edgar Wright’s The Running Man.

Critical Challenges Await as Transformers and G.I. Joe Merge in New Film

Paramount’s announcement at CinemaCon has set the stage for a bold merger of these two storied franchises, which are both rooted deeply in Hasbro’s rich history of iconic toys. This crossover not only aims to bring together the mechanized chaos of Transformers with the tactical action of G.I. Joe, but it also promises to expand these universes into a newly unified cinematic experience.

Historically, both franchises have faced their fair share of critical hurdles. Recent entries like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins have not fared well with critics, earning scores of 52% and 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. These figures reflect a consistent struggle to resonate with critics, despite maintaining a strong fanbase.
