Kirby will lead the series as Hezekiah Mosco, “who finds himself drawn into the vibrant and violent melting pot of London’s post-industrial East End from Jamaica,” according to the official synopsis. “Dragged into the criminal side of the thriving boxing scene, he meets Mary Karr, played by Erin Doherty, the leader of The Forty Elephants — London’s notorious female gang — as they struggle to survive on the streets.”
“As Hezekiah hones his new skills, he encounters Sugar Judson, played by Stephen Graham, a seasoned and dangerous boxer, and the two soon engage in an intense rivalry that extends far beyond the ring.”
In a statement alongside the images, Steven Knight, who will write, said: thousand hits Directors Tenja Krishnan and Nick Murphy revealed that the series is inspired by real people “who lived extraordinary lives in extraordinary times.”
