Phoenix Perform With Air, More at Olympics Closing Ceremony: Watch


Olympic Games Closing Ceremony

The French band performed hit songs and collaborations in the middle of the Stade de France in Paris.

Phoenix performed the upbeat song “Lisztomania” at the start of their performance at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris on Sunday.

The French band from Versailles appeared in the middle of the Stade de France, surrounded by athletes, and included songs “If I Ever Feel Better” and “Funky Squaredance” featuring VannDa. The show featured several special guests, including French legends Air, who joined Phoenix to perform “Playground Love” together. There was also an appearance by producer DJ Kavinsky, who performed “Nightcall” with singer Angèle. Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig also joined Phoenix to perform their collaboration “Tonight.” Phoenix’s show closed with their hit song “1901,” which had the crowd jumping and culminated in a flurry of confetti.

“We are so happy to have the opportunity to celebrate with all the athletes and the entire world at the closing of the Olympic Games in our beloved city of Paris,” Phoenix said in a statement following their performance. “It was an incredible moment to be invited to share the stage with our friends from France and around the world, to honor the French spirit and stay true to our motto: Liberty and Equality, Phoenix! We are thrilled to pass the baton to the Paralympic athletes and to the city of Los Angeles for the next Games in 2028.”

The closing ceremony will also feature performances by Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg, who will help hand things over to LA28, when the Summer Olympics head to Los Angeles from June 14 to July 30 in 2028.

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony featured a stunning performance by Lady Gaga, the viral hit Gojira, and Celine Dion's long-awaited return to the stage.
