Presumed Innocent – Director & Producer Anne Sewitsky Interview

Anne Siwetski is executive producer and director of the hit Apple TV series Presumed Innocent. Siwetski spoke with MovieWeb's Greg Archer about the series, its shocking ending, how the cast wasn't told who the killer was, and how Jake Gyllenhaal made her cry.

Anne Siwetski is a Norwegian-American filmmaker currently living in Norway. Siwetski's debut film, Happy, Happy, won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2011 and was Norway's Oscar nomination that same year. Her subsequent films, Homesick and Sonja: The White Swan, premiered in the main competition at Sundance in 2016 and 2019, respectively.

Siwetski was a co-creator and director of NRK’s most ambitious and expensive show to date, the psychological thriller “Monster.” Siwetski directed the critically acclaimed 2018 season finale of “Black Mirror,” starring Miley Cyrus, as well as the pilot episode of Mary Lu’s “Monsterland,” starring Kaitlyn Dever. On the film side, Siwetski is attached to direct Bill Wheeler’s “White Night,” produced by Ann Curry based on the nonfiction memoir “Seductive Poison” by Deborah Layton — Layton’s unflinching account of her years as one of Jim Jones’ closest confidants and her efforts to bring the Jonestown massacre to the attention of the U.S. government.

Siwetski most recently directed the limited series “A Very British Scandal” starring Claire Foy and Paul Bettany, which was released on Boxing Day 2021. She will also direct “Destroyers.”
