Nearly a month after canceling additional European tour dates following Josh Homme's emergency surgery, Queens of the Stone Age has removed the remaining 2024 tour dates from its schedule to prioritize Homme's health.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the band expressed their regret at having to cancel or postpone all of their upcoming shows. “QOTSA regrets to announce that all remaining shows for 2024 have been cancelled and/or postponed,” the group wrote. “Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and receive essential medical care for the remainder of the year.”
In early July, QOTSA canceled eight European tour dates so Homme could return to the United States for emergency surgery. “We have made every effort to go ahead and play for you, but it is no longer possible,” they said at the time. Later that month, the band canceled seven additional shows scheduled for August.
Now, the group is postponing shows in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago and Madison to 2025, and completely canceling festival appearances in Mexico City, Memphis and Bridgeport.
While it's unclear what type of surgery Homme underwent, he has been open about his health struggles over the years. Last year, he shared that he was diagnosed with a type of cancer in 2022 and underwent surgery to remove it.
In 2023, Queens of the Stone Age released their first album in six years, “In Times New Roman….” Shortly after, the band announced The End is Nero North American Tour followed by a series of European dates. This year, the band has scheduled dates in Australia and North America, as well as a few European shows that had to be cancelled.
