According to Prime Video, the series includes more than 20 interviews with Lisa Frank fans and journalists to help paint a better picture of what went wrong with the giant:
“Lisa Frank’s rainbow-hued branding evokes essential memories and nostalgia for generations of students — yet there was so much more going on behind the scenes,” said Lauren Anderson, head of brand and content innovation at Amazon MGM Studios. “Thanks to Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures Television and Alysia Russo — the first female lead in the series — audiences will discover the reality behind the neon.”
Maxine Productions may be familiar to viewers as the producers behind Quiet on the Set: The Dark Side of Children's TVThe series revisited child stars from Nickelodeon's boom era in the 1990s and explored several allegations of producer Dan Schneider's inappropriate and abusive behavior. Drake and Josh Star Drake Bell was prominent in the series, revealing that he was sexually assaulted by dialogue coach Brian Beck. Former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider has denied all allegations and filed a lawsuit against the producers. Amazon suggests there was a lot going on behind the scenes at Lisa Frank that could lead to similar bombshells in the new documentary.
