According to sources, Nick Santora is writing the spinoff series with Nicholas Wootton. Santora developed “Reacher” for television and serves as executive producer and showrunner on the series. Exact details of the spinoff are still under wraps, but it is believed to focus on Frances Negley, who is played by Maria Sten in the main series.
Amazon representatives declined to comment.
The move to develop more shows in the “Reacher” universe comes as no surprise, given the massive success of the Alan Ritchson-led series based on Lee Childs’ Jack Reacher novels. “Reacher” was renewed for a third season at Prime Video before season two aired. Season two was the number one title on Prime Video worldwide across both series and movies in 2023 during its opening weekend, according to the platform. The series’ global audience grew 50% between seasons in the first three days after season two debuted on December 15, 2023. It also debuted at No. 2 on Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming charts.
The third season will be based on the book “Persuader.” This book is the seventh in the Jack Reacher series written by Child. The official season trailer states that “Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held captive by a haunted enemy from his past.” Sten has been confirmed to return for the third season, along with new cast members Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Johnny Berchtold, Brian Tee, Roberto Montesinos, and Daniel David Stewart.
Child is executive producing on “Reacher” alongside Don Grainger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television. The series is produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance, and CBS Studios (formerly Paramount Television Studios). Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid are executive producing the series for Skydance Television. Richeson will serve as executive producer on the series beginning in season three.
