I treated it like it was a nature documentary. The direction I gave the puppeteers was things like, ‘The baby is looking for the mother’s scent now,’ so it lifts its head to do that. As if this change was not enough to bring about change Alien: Romulus To make the scene as realistic as possible, Alvarez went above and beyond to make the birth scene more practical for everyone involved. Instead of just shaking the camera to simulate a spacecraft hurtling toward the film's title space station, the director says the entire scene was shaking with all the actors in it. And of course, to make sure everyone was safe, stunt doubles were used as a precaution.

“We literally vibrated the set. The entire cockpit was built on a huge axis. So any moment the spacecraft hits the station, the entire axis vibrates. When the character falls, it’s very violent. We had to work with stunt doubles, of course, to do it safely. During the entire birth and everything, all the shaking was real.”
