“I hope people use it to score their own goals,” the Wu-Tang mastermind says of his album, which is due out August 30.
RZA will travel from Staten Island to symphony halls with the upcoming orchestral album by the genius Wu-Tang Clan, Ballet Dance Through the Mud.
The producer rediscovered the project during the pandemic when he revisited the lyrical songbooks he wrote as a teenager for the film “Shaolin.” RZA then turned those early works into a coming-of-age ballet about love and growth.
“I have been composing music all my life, although I didn't initially know that this was what I was doing. The inspiration for me was Ballet Dance Through the Mud “This work comes from my first creative output as a teenager, but its themes are universal — love, exploration, and adventure,” RZA said in a statement about the work.
“I hope people use it to mark points in their lives, to turn a drive to the grocery store or sharing a meal with loved ones into something magical, to get inspired and let their imagination take them to a different room, even if just for a moment.”
In addition to his film music over the years, RZA has also delved into symphonic music in 2023 with his own orchestra. 36 rooms Concerts.
