SAG-AFTRA Calls Strike Against Major Video Game Publishers

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) went on strike against major video game publishers on Thursday, after more than a year and a half of stalled negotiations, with the union's main sticking point being the protection of artificial intelligence.

According to the union, the video game companies participating in the strike are: Activision Productions Inc., Blindlight LLC, Disney Character Voices Inc., Electronic Arts Productions Inc., Formosa Interactive LLC, Insomniac Games Inc., Llama Productions LLC, Take 2 Productions Inc., VoiceWorks Productions Inc., and WB Games Inc.

“We will not agree to a contract that allows companies to abuse AI at the expense of our members,” said SAG-RTA President Fran Drescher. “Enough is enough. When these companies get serious about offering an agreement that our members can live and work by, we will be here ready to negotiate.”

Representatives for the video game publishers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
