Singer re-enacts her 2008 hit song – and tells audience why she stopped singing it – on opening night of her custom-built stadium in German city

Adele made the move from Las Vegas to Munich on Friday, where the singer performed the first of 10 shows at the Adele Arena, a specially designated venue for the singer’s concerts in the German city. For the first time since 2017, Adele performed live “Chasing Pavements,” her second-ever single and a hit song from her 2008 debut album. 19Before the rare performance, Adele explained to the audience why she stopped singing the Grammy-winning song live.

“The reason I don’t sing this song very often – and I won’t sing it again after my stay in Munich – is because the way I say the words in this song when I was 19, I sound like I was 19, and when I sing it now, I still sound like I’m 19, and that bothers me,” Adele said before “Chasing Pavements.”

“But I will do it now because I love you, and again, the Germans have always been very loving to me. But I will not do it unless you do it with me.”
