Disney has revealed a first look trailer for “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” featuring behind-the-scenes moments with the series’ main cast, including David Henrie and Janice Lynn Brown, along with executive producer and guest star Selena Gomez.
“This is where it all started,” Gomez says in the first look at the production. “We’re home!”
The spinoff “Wizards of Waverly Place” follows an adult Justin Russo (Henry) who chooses to live a normal life with his family Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alcaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). When Alex Russo (Gomez) brings Billy (Brown) to his house for help, Justin must hone his magical skills to mentor the young wizard apprentice and balance his daily responsibilities.
The first look includes footage from the upcoming comedy series, and sees Alex and Billie step through a magical portal to Justin's house. Billie uses her powers to make eggs scramble themselves on the stove, make burritos appear and more.
Additionally, David DeLuise, who starred in the original series as Russo's father Jerry, appears in the first trailer. He will return to the franchise in a guest appearance. Taylor Cora also rounds out the cast as Winter, Billy's best friend.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, along with executive producers Gary Marsh, Jonas Agen, Gomez, and Henry. Andy Fickman directed and executive produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.
The series is set to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later in 2024. Watch the first look below.
