After six months After the untimely passing of Toby Keith, Luke Combs is remembering the late country legend with pride. On Thursday, official video debuted of Combs and Keith in the studio recording a cover of the late Joe Diffie's “Ships That Don't Come In,” which was released earlier this year.

“It was a no-brainer to be involved in a song with Toby when it was offered to me,” Combs said in a press release. “It was something I always wanted to do but never knew if it would happen.” (Keith’s appearance on “Ships That Don’t Come In” with Combs was his last studio performance before his death in February.)

Combs said Thursday that connecting with Keith before his death and singing a classic song for Davy, who died in 2020, made things “better” for him, since Davy had given him the Opry Member Award years earlier.

“I grew up listening to both of these guys’ music, so to be a part of this version of the song that is now Toby’s last recording is hard to put into words,” Combs said. “Country music misses them terribly, but I hope we do justice to continuing what they started.”
