SiR Reveals the Song He Hates Performing Most, Talks New Album ‘Heavy’


The biggest challenge SiR faces when performing is staying present. As he said, Rolling Stone“Every song deserves respect,” says American pop singer Delisa Shannon backstage at Lollapalooza, even if she’s not the same person she was when she originally wrote it.

“I try to be present throughout the show, which is very difficult and a very demanding task,” he continued. “Especially how some of these songs make me emotional. But I think I've gotten pretty good at it. The first few shows, I broke down.”

The musician even admitted that there are two songs he doesn't like performing, but still loves because they are fan favorites. SiR said that these songs contain “versions of myself that I definitely don't want to put out,” and after refusing to name them, he dropped a few hints and finally mentioned the song he doesn't like singing live: “That's Why I Love You,” an emotionally devastating duet with Sabrina Claudio from the 2019 album. “Sonically, it’s amazing. Feature-wise, it’s amazing. Lyrically, it’s not the song I want to sing,” SiR said.

He described the album as “my life in a nutshell over the past three years,” but admitted that those three years were very difficult, especially as he battled addiction and became sober.

“This playlist started in the depths of my addiction, in the depths of my depression, in one of the worst places,” Cyr said. “And it’s funny because some of the best records, man, came from there. But as I got sober, as I was getting ready to heal, and focusing on myself and my family, I started to see a light at the end of the tunnel. But a lot of darkness.”
