“There’s so much to be said about aging and beauty and all that at the moment, especially on the internet, especially with social media and what it does to our psyche around aging, where everything can be filtered and everyone can be Botoxed, everything can be filled in,” Banks told MoiveWeb.

At a time when our billionaires are sleeping in oxygen chambers or something. You know what I mean? I understand that we've always been obsessed with the Fountain of Youth, but I feel like we're really obsessed with it now. Overall, it's kind of crazy.

As we weave in themes related to business and identity, skin care The film paints a sometimes picturesque, sometimes bleak portrait of Hollywood, set in the not-so-distant past. “It was very detailed in establishing this world in Los Angeles, you know, 10, 15 years ago,” Banks says. “I love what we say in the film, like:Beauty is a tough business; a job It's a cutthroat business.“I really love all these little details. But in the end, I think this movie is like an existential crisis that can relate on many levels to many people, no matter what industry you work in.“Isn’t it? That’s the part that says, ‘Work is hard work.’”
The life of businesswoman Hope, played by Banks, turns into a vicious circle in skin care One day, a beautician named Angel (Luis Gerardo Mendez) opens a salon right across the street from her, promising her anti-aging products that might outdo her Italian counterparts. Angel is also noticeably younger than Hope.

Banks tells us she's felt Hope's fear of fading away, saying, “This sense of insignificance that this woman has in the face of what's new and what's coming next, I feel it in my daily life, it happens, you know? I felt a strong connection to Hope Goldman, the character I play.“She is an older woman in an industry that values beauty, youth and newness above all else,” he added.
“So I think we can all relate to that, especially now, as the technology we live with moves so quickly.
I feel like none of us feel like we're on solid ground.
