‘Snow White’ Remake Starring Rachel Zegler Releases Official Trailer

A trailer for the new version of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” has been released.

The new Snow White, Rachel Zegler, and the new Evil Queen (Gal Gadot) were on hand at D23 to speak to the audience. “It was the honor of a lifetime,” Zegler said of taking on the role of the princess. “I think any young woman, any little girl, if she could put on a Disney princess dress and be a Disney princess for a day, let alone six months… it was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.”

“It was so much fun to do something so different from anything I’ve ever done before,” Gadot said of her portrayal of the iconic Evil Queen. “She’s delicious, she’s evil, she’s charming. We got to sing all these different songs. It was incredible.”

Disney previously revealed a first look image for the trailer, which depicts Ziegler as Snow White with her signature short haircut, surrounded by a group of seven dwarfs.

Directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a reimagining of the original 1937 film. The original follows young Snow White, who runs away from her castle after her stepmother, the Evil Queen, becomes so jealous of her beauty that she orders the huntsman to kill her. The huntsman fails, and Snow White flees to a cottage where she finds seven dwarves.

After discovering that Snow White is still alive, the Evil Queen visits her in her cottage and gives her a poisoned apple. After being poisoned, Snow White later awakens to the kiss of her true love, the Prince.

In the remake, Ansu Cabia plays the Hunter, and Andrew Bernap plays the new role of Jonathan. Although songs from the original film will feature, songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have also composed new songs specifically for the remake.

During the 2022 D23 Expo, Ziegler and Gadot spoke to diverse On the red carpet about the differences that characterize this version.

When asked about the “modern edge” of the Snow White remake, Ziegler and Gadot pointed to the fact that the prince would not save Ziegler's Snow White.

“[Snow White’s] “She doesn’t dream of true love. She dreams of becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader her late father told her she could be if she was brave and just and courageous and honest,” Ziegler said. “So it’s a really incredible story for young people everywhere to see themselves in.”

“We had the opportunity to work with an incredible cast and it was the best thing ever,” Gadot said of the filming experience. “I feel so lucky to be able to play a role that is so different from what I know and what I’m used to, and I enjoyed every second of it.”

The film was originally scheduled to be released on March 22, 2024, but has since been pushed back to March 21, 2025, due to the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strike.
