Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) and Guardian Media Group have appointed Tara Boone and Lindsay Bolton to lead the creative partnership between the two companies.
The strategic joint venture was first announced last year and will see SPE acquire exclusive first rights to adapt Guardian journalism for the screen, both written and unscripted.
Bohn, who is part of Amazon Studios’ series team, takes on the role of head of global content development, while Bolton joins the Guardian in the inaugural role of managing editor of film and TV. Both roles will be based at the Guardian’s London headquarters.
At Amazon Studios, Bohn has worked on development and current series including “Reacher” and “Carnival Row” and has also worked with SPE on projects such as “The Good Doctor” and “The Scandal.”
Bolton will continue her current role as head of documentary at The Guardian in addition to her new responsibilities.
Matthew Justice, executive vice president, UK and Europe, Sony Pictures Television, said: “It is fantastic to have Tara and Lindsay’s expertise leading this collaboration. Tara has an incredible eye for projects that resonate with audiences around the world. Combined with Lindsay’s journalistic expertise and the wealth of stories available across The Guardian’s production and archive, it is incredibly exciting to announce this outstanding team to drive our collaboration forward.”
“We are delighted to have Lindsay and Tara on board,” said Keith Underwood, CFO and COO of Guardian Media. “With leaders of their caliber and experience leading our strategic creative partnership with Sony, we are thrilled to see the high-quality projects they will bring to fruition.”
