Star Wars Director Learned His Lando Series Was Canceled in the Worst Way

Donald Glover's Journey as Lando Calrissian It's been a winding road from Solo: A Star Wars StoryA Disney+ spin-off series has been announced, Lando It was pretty advanced when Glover announced a creative change. Then it was announced that Lando It was going to be a movie and not a series after all, and now it looks like Disney has pulled the plug on it, which was very sad for the filmmaker. Justin Simien“It was obvious. They probably wouldn’t want me to say this, but I knew it was official when I read it in the deals. But the writing was very clear,” Simin told Collider. He explained how the project has progressed:

It was quite sophisticated. Yes, there was a Bible, there was conceptual art, there were texts, but it wasn't supposed to be that way.

“It’s real grief,” Simin continued dramatically. “I’ve never had a child, I’ve never lost a child, but that’s what I imagine pain to be. You pour so much of your heart and soul into something, but in the end, you have no control over whether that thing lives or dies, and that’s a real grieving process.” […] For me, it has to be direct, like, 'I'm sad. I'm not feeling well.' I have to allow myself to feel those feelings.”
