Stephen King Calls for The Outsider Season 2 on HBO

Bestselling horror author Stephen King He has a lot of opinions about film and TV content, especially when it comes to adaptations of his own work. He regularly expresses these opinions using his X account. One such opinion concerns the 2020 HBO series The strangerwhich is based on his novel of the same name and which he clearly believes deserves more than one season.

On X, King quoted an original post by novelist Linwood Barclay, in which the author praised the miniseries and called for a second season: “Rewatching HBO’s The Outsider, based on the novel by @StephenKing. This show definitely deserves a second season.” King’s post read: “Yes, it did.”

At the crime scene, bite marks are found on a young boy, and when Detective Ralph Anderson examines the camera footage, Maitland becomes the prime suspect. The problem is, Maitland is out of town speaking at a conference, and he insists on his innocence. A media frenzy ensues, and Anderson and his crew find themselves in a predicament that makes them question their own reality.

Richard Price, best known for his work in Night, The wire, ransom, and The duoHe was the executive producer behind the miniseries. The cast included Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, and Jason Bateman, who also directed two episodes. Other directors included Karyn Kusama, Andrew Bernstein, and Dina Reed.

The stranger The film was critically acclaimed and holds a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is without a doubt one of Stephen King's best adaptations, so why was it cancelled so quickly?
