On X, King quoted an original post by novelist Linwood Barclay, in which the author praised the miniseries and called for a second season: “Rewatching HBO’s The Outsider, based on the novel by @StephenKing. This show definitely deserves a second season.” King’s post read: “Yes, it did.”

A media frenzy ensues, and Anderson and his crew find themselves in a predicament that makes them question their own reality.


Richard Price, best known for his work in Night, The wire, ransom, and The duoHe was the executive producer behind the miniseries. The cast included Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, and Jason Bateman, who also directed two episodes. Other directors included Karyn Kusama, Andrew Bernstein, and Dina Reed.
