The viral sensation from the Paris Games has become the first contestant to be chosen for season 33 of the reality dance competition.
Steven Nedorosik will move from the pommel horse to the dance floor as the Olympic medal-winning American gymnast will be a contestant on the upcoming season of Dancing with the stars.
The rest of the celebrities who will be transformed into dancers in Season 33 will be announced at a later date, diverse Reports, adding that The Fresh Prince of Bel AirAlfonso Ribeiro and DWTS Veterinarian Julianne Hughes will return as co-host.
Nicknamed “Clark Kent of the Pommel Horse” and simply “the Pommel Horse Man,” Nedorosik shot to fame during the 2024 Paris Games for his eccentric appearance and easygoing demeanor, which quickly dissipated when he took off his glasses and took bronze in both the individual and team gymnastics events; the men’s team bronze was the United States’ first medal in gymnastics since 2008.
As Nedorosic – who has strabismus, a vision problem that requires glasses – became an overnight internet celebrity at the Paris Olympics, his social media presence ahead of the Games was also in the spotlight, including videos showing his prowess at solving a Rubik's Cube, a skill he also demonstrated on Tonight's showComplete the puzzle in just 15 seconds.
“When I entered that competition, I had big dreams and big hopes, and when I walked out and looked back and said, ‘Oh my God, I actually did it,’ it’s an incredible feeling,” Niedorošek said in Tonight's show Earlier this month after winning the bronze medal.
As for his reaction when his photo went viral in Paris, Niedorošek added: “I found out shortly after, and then before going to the pommel horse finals, I literally had to turn off my notifications, so I wouldn’t get caught up in the whole thing.”
