Step aside, you 12-foot-tall Home Depot skelly—there's a new ogre head in town. If the saying “I no “Pumpkin lantern. My name is Louis.” That’s what comes to mind, because Target’s pumpkin-headed character with a heart of gold (and a bit of sass) won everyone’s hearts last Halloween. But true Halloween fans know that shopping starts right after the Fourth of July, and this year Louis is back in triumph with a new line of spooky ghosts—and they’ve already sold out once.
Even if it feels like Halloween is coming a little early this year (with Home Depot’s aforementioned line of new venues, another edition of Anthropologie’s Mystic glasses, Pottery Barn’s Gus the Ghost decor, and a slightly smaller 5-foot skeleton from Joann available for pre-order now), we’d say there’s no such thing as too early! If you want more than just anecdotal excitement, according to the National Retail Federation, 77% of Halloween celebrants plan to buy new decorations, with half of them planning to shop as early as July.
Now that Louis is back, returning for his second Halloween season and making history at Target, the giant pumpkin king has a few new friends. The assortment includes an 8-foot-tall “Bruce the Skeleton Ghoul” with six sayings of his own (“Why does everyone think I'm so gloomy? I'm living my best afterlife, baby! Oooohhhhh!”), a 40-inch 80's “Pumpkin Iron Lewcy” air ghoul who wants you to know she's excited for Halloween (“Let that hideous energy flow!”) And the pint-sized, 65-inch Little Louis brings the same sentiment to smaller spaces.
Of the bunch, our favorite is definitely Rocker Billy, the 70-inch-tall '80s rock 'n' roll star who sings and “plays a powerful green guitar.”“Rocker Billy will make your bones cold!”His entire head lights up (including the little Kiss face nod) as he moves around and makes eerie sounds for a scary jam season (we're still not entirely sure why his raw pumpkin dogs are out, though – are rock singers known for walking barefoot on stage?).
From being featured on national news outlets, to the nearly 34 million views of the #MyNameIsLewis hashtag on TikTok last year, it’s no surprise that Lewis has made his mark… by selling out within the first week. The good news is that you still have a chance to get your hands on Lewis and the entire seductive crew now — but it might be a good idea to act fast before he disappears into the night again. Lewis is currently available on Target.com for $180, and will be available in stores starting in late August (but do you really want to wait until then?).
You can also get free shipping on Lewis and friends items if you're already a Target Circle 360 member—just pay with your Target Circle Card or spend $35 or more using any payment method.
