The season 4 finale of The Boys has undergone several changes following the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The highly anticipated final episode, which is now available to stream on Prime Video, now comes with a trigger warning as the episode “contains scenes of fictional political violence,” and has changed its title from Assassination Run to simply Season Four Finale.
The Boys and Prime Video have shared a statement to Instagram, which you can check out below.
“The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump.
“The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional. Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”
While the hit superhero series has never been shy about taking inspiration from real-life, Amazon are making it clear that any similarities between The Boys season 4 finale and the recent Trump shooting are purely coincidental.
Homelander Actor Responds to Claims the Supervillain Takes Inspiration From Donald Trump
Though the finale’s similarities to the shooting may be by chance, Homelander actor Antony Starr has said in the past that The Boys creator Eric Kripke does indeed take inspiration from former POTUS and current Presidential candidate Donald Trump when shaping the supervillain. And he loves it. Here’s what he said to DiscussingFilm about resemblance…
“I think there’s a very obvious human being that I know that Eric has steered the character towards. I understand why and I agree with that choice. I love that choice. For me it’s really important to make sure that as well as getting the nods to people in real-life and you know the super brand elements and all that for me to have a three dimensional…because he’s a human being ultimately that’s just been injected with a drug to make him what he is. But you can’t escape that humanity. And so, I don’t mind the references to the real world I don’t…I think they’re really complimentary to the nature of the show and the themes in the show.”
