It's not A new album from The Cure is long overdue, but Robert Smith and his label will release live versions of two songs road-tested during recent tours on an upcoming eco-friendly vinyl.
November: Live in France 2022Their new album, due out October 1, includes live recordings of “And Nothing Is Forever” and “I Can Never Say Goodbye,” the first time either track has been released.
The two-track 12-inch single will be printed on eco-friendly translucent black vinyl via Naked Record Club, which uses “a pioneering injection press that is estimated to use 80-90% less electricity than traditional vinyl pressing machines,” according to the band. Additionally, all proceeds from the limited-edition print run — only 5,000 copies will be made — will go to Earthpercent.

The Cure was last released 4:13 dream In 2008, however, a new album called Lost World Songs Over the past few years, they've even played a half-dozen potential album tracks — “A Fragile Thing,” “Endsong,” “I Can Never Say Goodbye,” “Alone,” “And Nothing Is Forever,” and “Another Happy Birthday” — during their long Shows of a Lost World tour.
Smith has been working on the new album for at least the past half-decade, providing Rolling Stone With progress report in 2019.
“The other thing is we just did demos, and the band had some songs that they gave me to listen to, and turn them into songs that I couldn’t play. So I feel like we got to explore them for a few days as well, in the studio now that we’re playing together again just to see if something stands out,” Smith said.
“I really want the album to work in a way that the really great Cure albums — my favorite albums — work as pieces of music. I want people to listen to the album from beginning to end and feel like they’re somewhere during that time.”
