The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins Reacts to Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Duet

“I was Father of the Year, maybe Father of the Century,” Hawkins says.

As a clip Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's song “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness has been going viral, with bandleader Justin Hawkins taking to TikTok to open up about his own experience with the pop star's music. In a 90-second video on Monday, Hawkins described the “extraordinary” hospitality he received while attending the Eras tour with his daughter and partner.

“There was a guy in a golf cart driving us to center court,” Hawkins said. “They put us in a nice VIP area. Chris Rock was on one side, Roger Federer was on the other.”

When Hawkins arrived at the VIP area, he found a handwritten note from Swift.

“It was so exciting to have you at the concert!” Swift wrote to Hawkins. “I’m a huge fan of yours and I think ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ is one of the greatest songs of all time. I hope you and your family enjoyed the concert! Thank you so much for coming!”

As Hawkins woke up to a flood of messages about Swift and Kelsey singing his 2003 hit, he called the moment “touching,” thanked the famous couple for the surprise, and said his daughter “can't wait to tell her friends at school.”

“I was Father of the Year, maybe Father of the Century,” Hawkins said.

Swift, who was wearing a denim corset, matching shorts and red thigh-high boots, caused quite a stir on Sept. 5 when she arrived at the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener to support her boyfriend Kelce. The appearance came just one day after Kelce's PR team denied false claims about a “full-blown media plan” for Kelce's relationship “following her split from Taylor Swift.”
