The Duel Directors on Breaking Down Friendship & Masculinity with Great New Film

Co-directors Justin Matthews and Luca Spencer-Roberts spoke with MovieWeb's Julian Roman about their film with Dylan Sprouse and Calen McAuliffe. They discussed the subtle tonal shifts and rich themes. The Duel was originally scheduled for a one-night-only theatrical release on July 31, 2024, but will be released on Lionsgate's video-on-demand service.

After discovering that his best friend Colin (Sprouse) has been having an affair with his girlfriend, Woody (McAuliffe) decides that no modern form of revenge will ever satisfy him. Instead, Woody challenges his best friend to a classic contest of honor – a two-man duel to the death. When two of their friends join in the act, the once-inseparable group of men approaches a fateful day and tests their bonds to the point of no return.
