Global sales and production company Match Factory, part of streaming and production company Mubi, has appointed former Netflix executive Mark van den Bosch-Mbra as VP of acquisitions.
The newly created position is headquartered in Berlin and Van den Bosch-Mbra will, as of now, report to Michael Weber, Managing Director, to lead Match Factory’s global acquisition strategy.
Van den Bosch-Mbarah was most recently at Netflix, where he spent the past two years as Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions for German-speaking Europe, leading negotiations for a long-term partnership for Constantin’s theatrical releases in the region, and co-producing films, series and documentaries, including Netflix’s first Swiss production, Early Birds.
Van den Bosch-Mbra has over 15 years of experience in the film and television industry. Prior to joining Netflix, he held management positions at European streaming giant RTL, Warner Bros. and Viacom.
“Mark’s expertise in acquisition strategy, sales and local co-production is perfectly aligned with our goal of growing our global presence,” said Weber. “Mark’s talent for connecting creative content to market opportunities, combined with our deep understanding of the international acquisition and co-production landscape, creates a powerful synergy, making him a pivotal part of our global growth initiatives.”
The appointment comes as Match Factory prepares for the fall festivals, with the Venice premieres of Athena Rachel Tsangari’s “Harvest,” Torker Sawyer’s “Edge of Night” and the Quay Brothers’ “Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass.” In Toronto, the company will present a wide range of films, including Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The End” and several upcoming films from Venice and Cannes.
