We spoke to actor Patrick Renna ahead of the release of his new sports film. You have to believewhich is based on the heartbreaking but inspiring true story of a youth baseball team whose journey to the Junior World Series was eventually captured on ESPN in 2002. Rena has aged gracefully and still has the youthful air that stole the show in old kids' movies like Big Green and The Sandlotthe latter of which remains a classic and still stands. And Rena recently told us why.
“I think it's a great movie for this era. One of the main points of the story is, 'Go out there and get into a little trouble, you know, not too much trouble,'” Renna told MovieWeb.So I think it's a good message with all these screens and AI and all these things taking over the world.I've shown the game to my 7-year-old. My 4-year-old, I think, is a little bit confused because he sees my dad as younger, and I think that's a little confusing for him. So it's not the first game I've played in my house; it doesn't outshine the others. ninja turtles“.”

star] James Earl Jones is in this movie, he's kind of a veteran actor who's in the movie. Yeah, it was a whole episode. You know, a lot of people ask me about

“I'm talking about my experience in this movie and what I remember most about it. Often times, the answer isn't necessarily what's on the screen because I remember shooting the movie, and I haven't watched much of it.”
“So being in a group with nine or 10 kids playing baseball,” he continued, discussing his love of being in a baseball group. [for You Gotta Believe]”It was so nostalgic for me. It was the first time that had happened to me, where I was on a baseball set. I've been in a lot of movies since then, but this is the first one about baseball.”
Greg Kinnear and Mel Gibson Appreciation
Decades later, Reina returns to the world of sports cinema with a film starring Luke Wilson. You have to believeIn a fun little role as the league official he plays often interacts with and clashes with the team's head coach, played by Oscar nominee Greg Kinnear. “It was really cool to see Luke Wilson because we did that X-files “Years ago, it was a fun episode together, and it was one of the funniest episodes they did. So I hadn’t seen him in a while, and it was great to meet him again. And then I’ve always been a huge fan of Greg Kinnear; most of my scenes were with him. And he’s so talented. You know, it’s funny — you work with these actors who’ve been doing this for a while, and you realize why they’re really good. So it was a really cool experience.”
Looking to the future, Reina stars in another baseball moviecoming in October called Summer of the Beast“Mel Gibson also appears in a major role in Iron Man. When you watch Mel Gibson work, you realize why he’s one of the greatest actors ever,” Rena says. “They do these little things, you know, they’re just little internal moments that happen, and when you’re on the other side of that like I was with Greg Kinnear — I think I worked with him more than I worked with Mel Gibson, on Iron Man.” You have to believe “It's really fun to watch, and you start to learn a little bit.
