This Billionaire Heir Has Kept Donald Trump’s 2024 Campaign Afloat

Timothy Mellon has donated $125 million to Trump’s super PAC. That’s half the amount the PAC has raised and close to what the Trump campaign has.

It is largely unknown. Conservative billionaire Timothy Mellon is rarely seen, but he’s keeping Donald Trump’s campaign afloat. He’s donated $125 million this election cycle to Trump’s primary political action committee, Make America Great Again Inc.

That’s how significant those dollars are: They’re roughly half of what MAGA Inc. has raised—and the same amount of cash the group has on hand. That’s $3 million less than the $128 million the Trump campaign has in its coffers. The Republican National Committee has $99 million in its coffers.

Mellon, the discreet heir to Andrew Mellon’s banking fortune, has emerged as one of America’s biggest conservative donors during the 2024 election. While he previously helped fund Robert Kennedy Jr. — a candidate widely seen as a spoiler campaign to boost Trump — Mellon has gone all out to support Trump.

Mellon, who has been criticized in the past for using racist stereotypes in his autobiography, donated another $50 million on July 15, the day the Republican National Convention began.

Last week, MAGA Inc. announced it would launch a $100 million ad campaign targeting Vice President Kamala Harris. MAGA Inc. has raised more than $60 million since the start of the Republican National Convention, according to a person familiar with its spending plans. Politico.
