Rob Reiner recently spoke to Deadline about the long-awaited sequel. Reiner was nominated for this year’s Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special for his new documentary Albert Brooks: Defending My Life – Exploring the life and work of comedian Albert Brooks. Reiner joked that his long road to creating an Emmy-nominated documentary began with his own fake film in the 1980s, saying:

“It's a huge surprise. Especially since I've never directed a real documentary before. The only film I've ever directed was a fake one – Spinal Tap. It's very funny to be recognised in this way.”
