After being held for 24 hours, the rapper is unlikely to face charges related to the alleged altercation with the hotel security guard.
Travis Scott will not face any charges stemming from his arrest Friday in Paris, where the rapper allegedly got into an altercation with a hotel security guard.
“Travis Scott has been released without charges,” the rapper’s representative said in a statement to Rolling Stone on Saturday.
Earlier, a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office said police were called to the George V hotel early Friday morning to arrest a man “identified as Travis Scott for violence against a security guard” (Scott's real name is Jacques Bermont Webster II). The guard was allegedly trying to prevent a separate altercation between Scott and his bodyguard.
No injuries were reported in either altercation, and after 24 hours in custody by Paris police, Scott was released from custody without charge. No charges are expected in the future, a source familiar with the situation told Rolling Stone.
The sources added that Scott was upset with his bodyguard for not adequately protecting him amid the constant paparazzi attacks the rapper was subjected to while in Paris for the 2024 Olympics; on social media, there are videos of Scott trying to evade photographers, even lobbying for help from Parisian police during one incident:
Scott was arrested after attending the U.S. men's basketball team's semifinal game against Serbia. The U.S. team has advanced to today's gold medal game against France, which Scott will also be able to attend after his release.
