True Colors has acquired international sales rights to Francesco Costabile’s “Familia.” The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in the Horizons section. diverse The trailer for the film is shown for the first time (below).

Familia is a dark drama that combines elements of psychological thriller and social commentary. The film follows the harrowing journey of Luigi, a young man who grapples with a toxic family legacy and his involvement in extremist ideologies. Based on Luigi Celeste's autobiography It Won't Be This Way Forever, the story delves into the destructive cycles of violence and the struggle for redemption.

The cast includes Francesco Ghigi, Barbara Ronchi (Marco Bellocchio's “Kidnapping”), and Francesco De Leva (Mario Martone's “Nostalgia”). The cinematography is by Giuseppe Maio and the score is by Valerio Figliar.

“Familia” is produced by Attilio de Razza and Nicola Picone at Rome-based Tramp Limited. Co-producers are Nicola Giuliano at Indigo Film in Rome and Pierpaolo Verga at O’Groove in Naples, in association with Medusa Film.

Costabile, who received critical acclaim for his feature debut “Una femmina,” which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, “continues his exploration of intense, character-driven narratives that challenge social norms and institutional failures,” according to a press release.

“Familia” is scheduled to be released in Italian cinemas on October 2nd, and Medusa Film will distribute the film in Italy.

Other films to be screened at True Colors include Sergio Castellitto’s “Fortunata,” which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes and won best actress for Yasmin Trinca. The film tells the story of a 30-year-old woman raising her daughter alone, living in a deprived suburb of Rome, and dreaming of a better life.
