Trump Says Christians Won’t Have to Vote in Future: ‘We’ll Have It Fixed’

Former US President Donald Trump, who has ramped up his ambitions to be a dictator, told a crowd gathered in West Palm Beach on Friday that if he is elected for a second term they “won't have to vote anymore.”

At a Florida summit hosted by the conservative group Turning Point Action, Trump promised that if he wins in November, he will “again appoint strong conservative judges who will protect religious freedom.”

After repeating his usual baseless claims about mail-in voting, Trump issued a call to Christian voters. “Christians, get out and vote!” Trump shouted. “Just this once. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years. You know what? It’ll be fixed! It’ll be fine! You won’t have to vote anymore, beautiful Christians. I love you Christians!” “You need to get out and vote. In four years, you won’t have to vote again. We’ll fix it so well, you won’t have to vote.”

In December 2023, during a town hall meeting in Davenport, Iowa, when asked by Fox News’ Sean Hannity if he would “use his power to retaliate against anybody,” Trump replied: “Except for Day One. I want to close the border, and I want to drill, drill, drill.”

The former president later defended his comments, and at the 111th annual Young Republican Club of New York gala less than a week later, Trump said: “I didn’t say that. I said I wanted to be dictator for a day. You know why I wanted to be dictator? Because I want a wall, and I want to drill, drill, drill.”

Trump has also called for the Constitution to be overturned in order to overturn the results of the 2020 election after his loss to President Joe Biden. In December 2022, during one of his tantrums on Truth Social, he incorrectly called himself the “rightful winner” and claimed that “a massive fraud of this kind and magnitude allows all rules, regulations, and provisions, even those in the Constitution, to be overturned.”

After Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race last weekend and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's nominee, Trump is now ready to face the vice president in the upcoming election.

Since then, the disgraced former president has been pinning his hopes on anything. Earlier this week, when Harris was baselessly charged with crimes, Trump pointed to his criminal record while bringing up the vice president’s background as a prosecutor in the courtroom. Trump also backed away from his earlier pledge to debate “anytime, anyplace, anywhere,” and demanded that Fox News host the debate instead of ABC News. The former president’s communications director also said Trump would not debate Harris “until the Democrats formally decide on their nominee,” despite Trump’s previous debate with Biden in June.
