When speaking in At an event focused on combating anti-Semitism, Donald Trump took the opportunity to complain about Jewish Americans who vote for Democrats, blaming the lack of support on the “fuck you party.”
“The Jewish people will have a big share of the loss,” Trump said at the Israeli American Council’s national summit in Washington, D.C. “This is only because of the Democrats’ fist or curse on you.”
He pointed out that American Jews owed him their votes, saying, “All I did for Israel, I only got 24 percent of the Jewish vote,” and complained that “I wasn't treated well, but that's the story of my life.”
During the rambling speech, Trump attempted to blame his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, for anti-Semitic hate crimes against Jews, claiming that she “hates Israel” while portraying himself as “the best friend American Jews have ever had in the White House.” (Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, is Jewish.)
When Trump spoke to the crowd, he did not mention Mark Robinson — the controversial Republican gubernatorial candidate who recently came under scrutiny after referring to himself as a “black Nazi!” online and expressing support for reviving slavery. In the past, Trump has praised Robinson as a “dear” person.
This is not the first time Trump has berated Jewish Americans for their lack of appreciation for his policies toward Israel. In a radio interview in July, Trump repeated his previous attacks on Jewish Americans who do not support him, saying, “If you’re Jewish, if you vote for a Democrat, you’re a fool.” Trump has also called Emhoff, the second-ranking congressman, a “bad Jew.”
Throughout his campaign, Trump has been a constant source of hate speech. Last December, he accused immigrants of “blood-staining our country” — echoing the ideas of white supremacists and Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. Trump reportedly admitted to once receiving a copy of Hitler’s book, and according to his ex-wife Ivana Trump, the former president kept a collection of Hitler’s speeches in a closet next to his bed and would read them.
Trump has repeatedly accused Jewish Democrats of being disloyal to him, Israel and their religion and has used anti-Semitic tropes to denigrate them.
