Usher Brings Taraji P. Henson, Victoria Monet to Strip Club at NY Show


Yung Miami also took the stage during the first night of the Past Present Future tour at Barclays Center.

It was the first of Usher's four nights at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on his incredible Past Present Future tour, where he was joined on stage by a number of collaborators and friends including Taraji P. Henson, Victoria Monét, Yung Miami, Fat Joe and Ja Rule.

The Grammy Award-winning artist performed a career-spanning set of songs, including tracks from his ninth studio album. Back home It was released earlier this year. Throughout the two-hour show, Usher entertained the audience with his hits including 2001's “U Remind Me,” and “Love in This Club,” the title track from his 2008 album, Here I stand; and the song “U Got It Bad” from the 2001 album 8701.

During the second half of the show, Usher walked out into the audience and then down through the crowd, returning with Henson and Yung Miami. They were soon joined by Monét, who performed her hit single “On My Mama.” (Usher and Monét recently collaborated on the slow R&B “SOS” in August, the first single from Monét’s upcoming album.) As the group moved into “I Don't Mind,” a dancer and pole appeared in the middle of a small stage, temporarily turning the show into a strip club as the audience roared in approval as Henson and Monet threw fake $100 bills with a picture of Henson on them into the air.

The scene was a welcome and reunion for Henson's birthday celebration during Usher's 2022 Las Vegas residency to celebrate her 52nd birthday. Videos from the unforgettable moment captured the “OMG” singer and Henson dancing together as Usher sang Bobby Brown's “Rock Wi'tcha” to the birthday girl.

In a nod to his New York location, Usher called out Fat Joe later in the show to perform Terror Squad's 2004 hit “Lean Back” and 2017's “All the Way Up.” Ja Rule then appeared with the duo to perform “What's Luv?” and “Put It on Me.”
