Usher Postpones Start of Tour to Recover From Neck Injury

“Thank you for understanding that this injury needs to heal so I can give you the 100% excellence you expect,” he wrote.

Usher has decided to postpone the start of his upcoming tour until he fully recovers from a neck injury. On Thursday, the R&B star announced that he will kick off his Past Present Future tour on August 20 in Washington, D.C., once he has fully recovered from his injury, and he also announced new dates for his stop in Atlanta.

“I was hoping to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night with physical therapy and medical treatment,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform this week.”

Usher explained that he suffered the injury during rehearsals for what he described as “the greatest Usher show ever”, and that with “proper rest and treatment”, he should be able to start the tour in Washington, D.C., on August 20.

“I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury needs to heal so I can give you the 100% excellence you expect from an Usher show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon,” he added.

His Atlanta shows — originally scheduled for August 14, 16 and 17 — will now take place at the end of his run, on December 9, 10 and 12.
