Vashon Film Festival Program Includes ‘Bang Bang,’ ‘Black Dog’

The third annual Fashion Island Film Festival has announced its lineup for the event, scheduled for August 8-11. The festival, which takes place off the coast of Washington state, will screen 12 feature films, 10 short films, and three local projects.

The Vancouver International Film Festival will also feature a selection of other events for patrons to experience, including the Red Bicycle Awards, which will take place on Sunday, August 11 at the Vashon Theatre and its outdoor pavilion, The Backlot, a newly renovated, family-run cultural landmark on the island.

“I don’t envy the jury for their work,” said Mark Mathias Sayer, festival founder and CEO of distribution and sales company Forge. “The festival lineup is as strong as ever, and truly the best of this year’s festival season. Even our patrons will have a hard time choosing which films to see, and that’s a good problem to have.”

Narrative features include: Vincent Grashow's Bang Bang, starring Tim Blake Nelson; Joanne Ho's Black Dog; Brendan Gabriel Murphy's Flux; Jane Schonbrunn's I Saw the TV Glowing; Nicholas Collea's Griffin in Summer; Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valdez's Sogo; and Bartek Bala's Swarm.

You can view the full lineup on the festival website.
