Keith Urban Stopped Tonight's show To perform his latest single, “Chuck Taylors,” alongside his live band. The mid-tempo rocker comes from the country singer's new album, HighThe album is out now. The singer also took the opportunity to sing Sabrina Carpenter's “Espresso” on the banjo.
Urban announced his new album on Instagram last June, explaining that it was the product of a “previous record” that he started working on in 2022 but never completed. He described High “It’s so expressive, so real, so honest, and so in line with what I really wanted to say when I recorded this album. I hope these songs bring you joy, fun, some new understanding, energy, and escape!”
Urban sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss the album, and at that moment he decided to perform his cover of “Espresso” on a six-string banjo. Fallon noted that he knows Urban is a fan of covers, having covered songs by Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Urban explained that he just looks for a “well-written song” when choosing a pop song to reimagine.
“He said Taylor's songs are well written, every single one of them is good, so you can sing them in any style, you can sing any well written song in almost any style.”
Urban is currently on the road to promotion. HighIn October, the musician will begin a 10-date residency at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas, with additional dates scheduled for February 2025. He will also perform at the GoldenSky Festival in Sacramento on October 18 and at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York on December 6.
