The song comes from the duo's new album, Knowledge trust
Talib Kweli and J. Rawls appeared on Tonight's show To perform the song “Native Sons” with The Roots. The song is taken from the duo's joint album, Knowledge trustout today.
Kweli and Rawls released “Native Sons” last month. The song pays tribute to the Native Tongues group, which includes the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Monie Love, Black Sheep and Chi Ali.
“This song is dedicated to the legendary Native Tongues crew,” the rapper says in the song before naming several members. “We are witnessing the end of the hip-hop world/

Over the past few years, Kweli has released several collaborative albums. Last year, he collaborated with Madlib on Editing 2 In 2022, hip-hop duo Black Star, consisting of Kweli and Yasiin Bey, released No fear of time.
When Black Star band gathered for No fear of timeKweli explained that the album carries an important message, telling NPR: “I would say the main message is 'Don't be afraid of time' – don't let time or money or influence or trends dictate how you move. And to be closer to your core, whether that's a belief in God or a set of morals that you follow. Get closer to your core.”
