Will Smith Taps Jaden Smith, Russ for Reflective Single ‘Work of Art’


The song will appear on the rapper's upcoming album and follows his recent single “You Can Make It.”

Will Smith has released a new song titled “Work of Art.” The song features his son Jaden Smith and New Jersey rapper Russ, and will appear on Smith's upcoming album.

In the song and its accompanying music video, Smith narrates different sides of his personality. He seems to be referencing the famous slap moment at the Oscars when he sings, “I'm a saint, but if you touch me, I'm a savage.”

Throughout the music video, the song is interspersed with a conversation between Smith and Ross at an art museum, during which the rapper reveals that he has recorded over 20 songs for his new project. “'Work of Art' was the song where I found my voice,” Smith says at the beginning of the clip. “It was like, 'Ah! This is what I want to talk about.'”

Smith and Ross previously performed “Work of Art” at La Velada Del Año 4 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid earlier this month. The song marks the first official musical collaboration between Smith and Jaden, although Smith did provide a remix of Jaden’s 2018 single “Icon” with Nicky Jam. Ross teased the song earlier this week, writing on Instagram: “Crazy life, I’m on a new Will Smith song. “During some of my darkest moments, music has always been there for me — to lift me up and help me grow,” Smith wrote on Instagram ahead of the song’s release. “My humble wish is that it can do the same for you and bring you all the joy and light you so deserve.”
