Young Miami has She broke her silence about her relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, admitting that while several accusers have come forward alleging the Bad Boy mogul was physically violent and sexually abusive with them, that wasn't her experience.
Rapper City Girls — real name Caresha Brownlee — sat down with her close friend, rapper Saucy Santana, to attend the season two premiere of her TV show Revolt, Karisha please, On Thursday night.
Brownlee explained that she is no longer dating Combs, adding that she cannot speak about these accusations, because she was not there at the time, she does not know this person, and this was not my experience.
At the beginning of the interview, the mother of two broke down in tears before opening up about her relationship with Combs, saying the past few months have been emotionally difficult for her. “One minute I'm happy, the next I'm sad. The next minute I'm like, 'Go to hell.' The next minute I look at my kids and I'm like, 'I didn't cause us to go back.'”
Brownlee and Combs were first linked in 2021, with Combs confirming they were casually dating when they appeared on Brownlee’s show in June 2022. Weeks later, Brownlee proudly waved a “Go Baby!” sign as Combs accepted the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. Despite attending the Met Gala together in May 2023, Brownlee downplayed any notion of a serious relationship, saying they were “having our own situation.” “We’re still good friends,” she said. But Brownlee has remained largely silent on Combs after his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, filed a damning lawsuit against him for sexual assault and sex trafficking in November 2023. (Combs denied Ventura’s allegations and the two parties reached a private settlement within 24 hours of the lawsuit being filed.) A series of other sexual assault lawsuits soon followed, including from music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who named Brownlee in court documents. Brownlee said on her show that she distanced herself from Combs in the wake of the allegations. “When all of this came out, I just needed to take a break and focus on what was important, which was me, my career and my family,” she said.[I needed to] Let him go and figure it out on his own because I can't get involved in that.
When Santana asked her if Combs had ever been physically violent towards her, Brownlee said she had been a victim of domestic violence in two previous relationships, which she “doesn't accept.”
During the interview, the rapper also addressed rumors that City Girls — in which she performed with longtime friend Jatavia “JT” Johnson — had broken up, confirming that things “weren't going well” and that the two had grown distant. “I still look at it as family, but it's not like we're on the phone talking every day. I just want to move forward,” she said.
Brownlee launched her popular show with Revolt in 2022 — the same media company that Combs founded in 2013. Following Ventura’s allegations, Combs stepped down as chairman and sold his stake in the company in June. A Revolt spokesperson said in a statement to the people Combs “was not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company” even before his resignation.
Combs' sale of his shares came about a week later. Rolling Stone Foreign Policy published a six-month investigation into Combs' history of violence that dates back to before his career began, with dozens of former friends, Bad Boy employees and artists speaking out against the business mogul.
