Zac Efron Says He Is ‘Healthy’ After Hospitalization for Swimming Incident

Zac Efron shared a message on his Instagram account on Sunday after news broke that he was hospitalized after a swimming accident in Spain a few days ago.

“Happy and healthy, thanks for the well wishes,” Efron wrote.

Efron's rep confirmed to People magazine that the actor had a “minor swimming accident” Friday night while using the pool at his villa in Ibiza.

Efron was taken to the hospital as a precaution and was released Saturday morning. “He's fine,” the actor told People magazine.

Efron's representatives have not responded. Varieties TMZ was the first to report that Efron was hospitalized.

While on vacation in Spain, the “Iron Claw” star attended DJ Martin Garrix's concert at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club. Videos circulated on social media of Efron joining Garrix on stage and getting the crowd pumped.

Efron's most recent credits include the Netflix film “A Family Affair,” “Ricky Stanicky,” “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” and “The Iron Claw.”

Efron is set to star in another A24 film, “Famous,” directed by Jody Hill. Based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, Efron will play two roles in the film: movie buff Lance Donquist and Hollywood star James Janssen.

According to the official storyline, the film follows Lance who, despite being a loser in his day-to-day life, “has the face of a movie star. And not just any movie star – Lance has been mistaken for Hollywood star James Janssen 228 times. Now Lance is ready to go to Los Angeles to make his dream come true. No matter what it takes.”
