“I loved it. I loved it. It's part of the reason I wanted to do it, because it inspired me and got me started… my imagination started… it started moving. I think that's important for fans of the book, and that it feels true to the narrative. I think that's what people will love about it. I think they'll really enjoy it.”

Sackhoff talked about her role in the animated film and bringing a new vulnerability to Laurie Juspiczyk's character. She compared the character to characters like Poison Ivy in Batman: The Long Halloween, She described it as “incomprehensible,” and explained that it was important for her to bring those emotions, of anger and pain, to her performance. She found it to be one of the lines of communication between her and the character. She said:


“I think Laurie had a lot of self-doubt, a lot of vulnerability, a lot of pain. I think that was something that I really wanted to hold onto for her, and get her through. I was in a situation where I loved someone with all my heart and I didn’t feel like I was enough, and that’s a terrible feeling. It’s a terrible, terrible feeling. And so I held onto that, that was the thing that connected me to her. That was the thing that I kept coming back to. And I think you hear that in her voice a lot.”

Sackhoff has previous voice acting experience, having played Bo-Katan Kryze. in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and reprise her role in Star Wars: Rebels, In addition to her live-action version of the character in the hit series on Disney+, The Mandalorian.

Straczynski echoed Sackhoff's sentiments, revealing on social media that he “didn't see any need to write more material or change what works in the book. He's pure Moore,” and hinted that this could be the most accurate adaptation of the comics yet.


“I can talk about this now as the news spreads. I adapted the WATCHMEN book for the Warner Bros. animated feature. And by 'adapting' I mean fine-tuning the structure to fit the film. I saw no need to write more material or change what worked in the book. It's pure Moore's work.”
