Trump’s Gun License Expected to Be Revoked by NYPD

The former president was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records stemming from his hush money payment trial

Former President Donald Trump‘s gun license is expected to be revoked by the New York Police Department after he was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Trump’s concealed carry license for New York City was suspended following his indictment in April, a senior police official told CNN, which first reported the news. Per the outlet, on March 31, 2023, two of the three pistols the former president was licensed to carry were handed over to the NYPD, while the official said a third gun listed on his license “was lawfully moved to Florida.”

On May 30, Trump became the first United States president, current or former, to be a convicted felon. The jury was unanimous in their decision that the former president was guilty on all counts stemming from a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to stay quiet about an alleged affair prior to the 2016 election.

Trump is expected to appeal the verdict, which would first need to pass New York’s criminal appeals process before it could be brought to the Supreme Court. Following the conviction, Trump urged the nation’s highest court to intervene in his upcoming sentencing and lamented that it would take place days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Last month, at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention, where the group formally endorsed Trump, the former president pushed gun owners to vote for him.

A spokesperson for President Joe Biden’s campaign, James Singer, issued a statement to NBC about the expected gun license revocation: “When Trump tells the NRA he won’t do a damn thing to prevent convicted felons, domestic abusers, and other dangerous people from getting their hands on guns, he’s talking about himself.”
