Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey Are ‘Open’ to ‘How to Lose a Guy’ Sequel

Actress Kate Hudson says she and Matthew McConaughey are open to co-starring in a sequel to the 2003 romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”

During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” on Wednesday, Hudson revealed that she and McConaughey had talked about returning to the love-struck streets of Manhattan for a reunion, saying, “I think they [studios] “We're always thinking about that.”

Hudson confirmed that she would not consider accepting the role unless there was a strong script attached to the project.

“All that matters is the script and whether Matthew and I agree on the script,” Hudson said. “I think we’re completely open; that’s never happened.”

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is based on the book of the same name by Michelle Alexander and Jenny Long. The romantic comedy stars Hudson and McConaughey as magazine writer Andie Anderson and advertising executive Benjamin Barry, respectively. Their paths cross when Andie begins writing an article on how to make a man leave you in 10 days, and Benjamin bets that he can make a woman fall in love with him in the same amount of time.

Asked about his thoughts on a sequel in 2020, McConaughey told E!'s Daily Pop: “I mean, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is ready, you know, ready for a movie that you could easily make a sequel to. And that was really good. And as far as romantic comedies go, that was really good.”
