Brewster Millions: Christmas Not only is it a BET+ original series, it's actually a family affair, starring Breyer's real-life daughter, Ryan, and son, Richard Breyer Jr.
While Briar Jr. admits his role isn't as big in the new film, Brewster Millions In the film's story, the son of the famous comedian will play the same character (Monty Brewster) that his father played in the 1985 film, which was released in theaters nearly 40 years ago. Bryer Jr. said (via Deadline):
As the son of Richard Pryor,
I was very proud to have had the opportunity to enter this field, although I could not forget this character for a short time. [Montgomery] Monty Brewster.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to work with Joseph Nasser and Matthew Nasser.”
Briar's daughter, Rain, plays Opal in the holiday movie. She was honored to work on the BET+ Original project as well. Rain added:
Working on Brewster's Millions: Christmas was such an honor. From the cast and crew to director Patricia Coffee Jones and producers Joseph and Matthew Nasser, I felt like I was part of a family. I knew my dad was watching over me from up above.

While Richard Pryor’s daughter, Rain, and son, Richard Pryor Jr., appear in the upcoming BET+ original film, it falls to actress China Anne McClain to play Monty Brewster’s (Pryor) niece, Morgan. Morgan will presumably inherit Monty’s fortune if she can abide by the terms of the will, just as her uncle was forced to do nearly 40 years ago. Patricia Coffey Jones serves as director and screenwriter for Brewster Millions: Christmas, Coming 40 years after one of Richard Breyer and John Candy's most underrated films, it's worth noting, however, that the source material for Brewster Millions (Love in a Time of War (1985) is nearly 125 years old, having originally been written by author George Barr McCutcheon in his 1902 novel of the same name.
Unfortunately, Breyer's original portrayal of a Hackensack Bulls minor league baseball player who became a millionaire was not well received by audiences or critics. Today, Brewster Millions The film only scored a 38% on Tomatometer, and the film received a 56% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, despite grossing $45.8 million during its theatrical run (according to Box Office Mojo).
