Ciara Taps Busta Rhymes for High-Energy Single ‘Wassup’


“It's a song that's meant to be as fun as possible,” the singer said of the song, which pays tribute to her hometown of Atlanta.

Ciara has released a new song called “Wassup” featuring Busta Rhymes. The song, which was released via Ciara's label Beauty Marks Entertainment, was written by Ciara, Busta Rhymes and Cortlyn Gabray, and produced by JR Rotem.

“‘Wassup’ is a fun, flexible record,” Ciara said in a statement. “It started with a play on words about what we're going to say when I come to ATL. 'What's going on, what's going on?'” It's a bit of a Y2K moment. I'm tapping into my ATL roots! Busta and Ciara reunited on the road this summer as part of the Out of This World Tour alongside Missy Elliott, which led to their collaboration. “Wassup” marks the second new single from Ciara this year following “Run It Up” featuring BossMan Dlow. The songs are Ciara's first releases since her 2023 EP, CCWhich included the songs “How We Roll” with Chris Brown and “Forever” with Lil Baby.

Along with the new single, Ciara is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album. Good stuff. A limited edition hot pink vinyl edition was released, which includes the original album and two bonus tracks “Crazy” and “Represent Me”.

Rhymes released their latest album, Blockpostalast November. The rapper will appear in Morgan Neville's new film, Piece by piecea Lego reimagining of Pharrell Williams' life and career.
