He will make his debut on August 30, Salvation It quickly rose to the top of Netflix's charts, dethroning Wahlberg and Berry's action comedy after holding the top spot for two weeks. Directed by Lee Daniels and starring Andra Day, Mo'Nique, Caleb McLaughlin and Demi Singleton, the horror film was the talk of social media this past weekend, and rightfully so.

Based on the haunted Ammons case that occurred in Gary, Indiana in 2011, Salvation It tells the story of a black family's struggle with demonic possession, and the lengths a mother will go to save her children. This isn't the first time the Ammons case has been in the spotlight, as paranormal investigator Zak Bagans takes on the Ghost Adventures Fame released a documentary titled devil's house In 2018 after purchasing the Ammons home for $35,000 in 2014 in hopes of getting to the bottom of the supernatural mystery.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about Salvation – Aside from its portrayal of a family under demonic attack, Oscar winner Glenn Close’s performance is the best. Close plays Alberta Jackson, the foul-mouthed matriarch of the family who is also battling cancer. As a white woman raised in a black community, the role was completely foreign to Close, who says she “had no idea” how to deal with Alberta until she had some discussions with Daniels, who eventually pointed her in the right direction.

What fans are saying about The Deliverance

With only a 31% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it's clear that not everyone liked the film. Salvationwhich is Daniels' second project in the horror world after serving as executive producer on Reading In 2023. However, users on social media seem to be having a lot of fun with the release of this genre and Close's performance.

As user @kodakk6000 said: “Man, The Deliverance was surprisingly good, seeing Glenn Close as the village grandmother was crazy, she was so cool.”

@SHALOMEIBBOTSON echoed these sentiments, saying that while the film overall may have lacked quality, Close's performance was unparalleled: “Deliverance gets a 4/10, but Glenn Close, in a lace wig and ripped skinny jeans, gets a 12/10 in my opinion. I've always considered Glenn an '80s actress, and I'll watch any movie she's in.”

There is one particular line in Salvation That line from Clowes got everyone talking, and even got a response from Daniels. And at the end of the film, when little Nate is being exorcised, the demon takes on the eerie form of Clowes, and says… well, we'll let you watch the clip for yourself.

In a year where horror films like leggy, In a violent natureand Late Night with the Devil They were outstanding, and the fans better not sleep. SalvationOn the surface, the film may seem like just a regular possession movie, but Daniels' film goes much deeper than that to highlight themes of addiction, isolation, and faith in a way that sets it apart from the other exorcism films that have debuted in recent years.
