The track featuring SG Goodman is the first release from Resident + BrightKia album produced by Butch Walker
Amethyst Kyah will release her new album, Resident + BrightThe album was released on October 25. Produced by Butch Walker, it features 12 songs from the singer-songwriter and banjo player, as well as some collaborations.
The first pair brings together Kia and SG Goodman and serves as an advertisement. Resident + BrightTitled “Play God and Destroy the World,” it's a reference to a song Kiah wrote as a teenager. While this version is ultimately different from the original, its title—inspired by the 1999 sci-fi film—is matrix – Remains.
“matrix “This film was a foundation for me, as I realized that suburbia is a front for people to deceive each other about their humanity through a protocol of clichés and whispers behind each other’s backs,” Kiah said in a statement.
Besides Goodman's appearance, Resident + Bright The album includes a song with Billy Strings (“I Will Not Go Down”), a song with Walker (“Silk and Petals”), and another with singer Avi Kaplan (“Die Slowly Without Complaint”). Walker wrote or co-wrote all twelve songs. The closing track “People's Prayer” was written with Tim Armstrong, co-founder of Operation Ivy and Rancid.
Resident + Bright The album will be released by Rounder Records, and Kiah will support the album with a fall tour that includes an August 9 appearance at the Grand Ole Opry.
