In a roundtable interview hosted by The Direct at the San Diego Comic-Con, the writer and director behind Independence Day said he hasn’t had any discussions with the House of Mouse yet, but stressed that we have to “trust” him…
“They've sold the movie to Disney now, and I probably should talk to someone at Disney… I have a story and everything. Trust me, I have a story.”
the independence day The franchise is one of several major intellectual properties that now fall under the Disney umbrella following the studio's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. Following the release of the sequel Independence Day: RenaissanceIn “The Last Jedi,” released two decades after the first film, Emmerich revealed that he had plans for other stories centered on the battle between Earth and aliens. While those plans have yet to materialize, the director has now declared that he is “ready to go.”
