Jade Shares New Single ‘Midnight Cowboy’ With Ncuti Gatwa Appearance

Jade Thirlwall’s life outside of Little Mix is still taking shape. Earlier this year, the singer-songwriter shared her debut single “Angel of My Dreams,” a theatrical commentary on pop stardom and the music industry. Her latest release, the slick club track “Midnight Cowboy,” creates a musical bridge as she continues to build on the world she established with her debut single.

“I didn’t want you all to wait that long for music again,” Jade wrote on social media yesterday, describing the new release as “my gift to you until my next single.” And “Midnight Cowboy” is that gift that never ends. The upbeat recording features the voice of actor Ncuti Gatwa, who narrates Jade’s late-night runs. “Ladies and gentlemen, they and them. Hold tight, the performance is about to begin,” he says at the start of the song.

Jade also shared an accompanying visual for “Midnight Cowboy.” Directed by Fa & Fon, the clip begins with the return of the character she played in the “Angel of My Dreams” video. As she strips off her red wig, tinted sunglasses and leather jacket, Jade dances across a floor of water fountains as paparazzi cameras flash.

“It’s been a crazy couple of months and seeing all this passion for Angel Of My Dreams is surreal,” Jade wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s important to me to continue sharing my art and hard work with the world, so I wanted to release a track to keep you guys on your toes until the next one.” The singer revealed that the album was co-written with Raye and Jonah Christian.

She added: “Thank you Ncuti for your amazing jumping on the track – you were perfect. You Fa and Vaughn did a great job on this video. I love working with you so much I didn't mind freezing my chest off in a fountain in Walthamstow for you.”

In 2022, Little Mix announced that they would be taking a hiatus while each member pursued their own solo projects. Leigh-Anne Pinnock released her debut single “Don’t Say Love” in June 2023, while Perrie Edwards launched her solo career in April earlier this year with the bittersweet pop song “Forget About Us”. With “Angel of My Dreams”, Jade was the last member to go solo.

“I’m a huge fan of pop music, and when I look at the pop girls that I love, they’re the most unique. The looks, the dances, the great songs, the great group parts – give it to me! That’s what I want and that’s what I want to present,” Jade said. Billboard “In July, I started over, so I don’t even know how it feels to achieve fame on my own. I’m really grateful that I’m starting this journey now at my age, because I’ve become calmer. I wouldn’t have been able to be a solo artist 10 years ago. We’ll see what happens.”
